I purchased this product for our dachshund, and with the thought of using it on our tabby cats. It works well on the cats, when we can get them to stand still long enough. Since our dog is short-haired, I didn’t expect to remove much from her, but what we did remove was even less than anticipated. I would imagine the Furminator would work well on long-haired dogs, as it does work well on the cats. However, for the dachshund, it doesn’t appear to be of much use.
The FURminator works much better than any other brand pet comb we tried (including Hartz and the ionizing types) for removing loose cat hair. We have used this for over a year now and can see a real difference in the amount of hair in the house (and in the vacuum cleaner) when we go for any length of time without using it.
Pros:
+ Solid build with a good grip and metal teeth
+ Gets a lot of hair with each pass
+ Easy to clean
+ The cats like it to be used on them
Cons:
- Somewhat pricey, but it should last a very long time and it keeps the hairballs down
The FURminator is a great product that really performs as advertised!

This was fantastic – I kept one and gave another one away to a friend of mine who also has small dogs.
The best part is that my dog LOVES when I either brush or de-fur her, and I interchange them to make sure that she has a nice and soft coat.
What a great purchase, and seller!
